White-fleshed Red Dragon Fruits – Pitahaya Ecuador

The white-fleshed red dragon fruits are a species of Cactaceae and are the most cultivated species of the genus. It is also known as dragon fruit because of the uneven skin.
These are born from a type of cactus, among its benefits are: help protect the cells of the body as it is rich in polyphenols, which are antioxidants.
It is rich in fiber, so it helps the digestion process. The dragon fruit can be consumed natural, salads, jams, sweets, etc.
The characteristic shape of its fruit is ellipsoidal, with a diameter that is between 10-12 cm, depending on its species. On the surface of its shell there are protruding formations called bractéoli that are like ears or bracts, of waxy and fleshy consistencies that stand out to the consumer.
